No.14 The Western Isles

Over the last two centuries, many thousands of people from these Outer Isles, willingly or otherwise, settled in North America taking their Gaelic culture with them. Their descendants may have no idea what they look like. This video will be of special interest to them.

Sail from Uig on Skye to Tarbert on Harris, and see the prehistoric Callanish standing stones, ancient Dun Carloway and other scenes on the Isle of Lewis. Take in South Harris, Rodel, St.Clement’s Church, and the ferry from Leverburgh to North Uist; to the beautiful Isle of Berneray; see Lochmaddy and travel down through Benbecula to South Uist; to the Isle of Eriskay (Whisky Galore) and finally to Barra - blessed with the only airport in the world where scheduled flights land and take-off on the seashore. See for yourself!
In this video you will be immersed in the feel of history spread over long centuries; of a living Gaelic culture, and a variety of scenes to tempt you to visit these enchanting Isles and the friendly, welcoming folk who belong here.
